The latest horror film from Eli Roth, Ice Cream Man, opens in theaters on Friday. In honor of its release, this week’s binge looks at other films directed by Roth. Films appear in chronological order.

Cabin Fever (2002)
About: This is probably the one that first put him on the map. It’s a fairly standard horror set up with young people isolated in the woods. It takes some graphic turns but is an interesting take on the genre.

Hostel (2006)
About: This is perhaps his most famous horror film, one that became a franchise of sorts. It’s incredibly graphic and over-the-top, setting a certain standard and style that Roth still employs in films today.

Death Wish (2018)
About: Bruce Willis takes the lead in this re-imagining of the classic action film. It’s brutal but not a horror film, so it seems like a stretch in range for Roth.

Thanksgiving (2023)
About: This isn’t the warm, holiday tradition you’re thinking about. This takes a classic holiday about family and turns it into something savage. I actually kind of enjoyed the ride here. This might be my favorite of his films.

Borderlands (2024)
About: This had an awesome cast and a decent premise, adapting some rich source material. And it ended up being kind of flat and a mess that disappointed causal viewers and hard-core fans.
