The new Pharell Williams film, Piece By Piece, drops Friday. It’s a Lego documentary of sorts. It becomes the fifth feature film out of Legos. This week’s binge looks back at the previous four. The films appear in ascending order.

No. 4: The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017)
About
: This was a spin-off that focused on a specific style of Legos. It was wild and at times it was fun. I liked the voice cast and the design and look. This film is fun in its own way but it doesn’t stand out as much as some of the other Lego films.

No. 3: The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)
About:
Sequels can be tricky, and that was the case here. I know not everyone was smitten with this second dive into the world of Emmet and Lucy, but I had fun with this one. In some ways it’s bigger, but that sense of humor and style remains intact.

No. 2: The Lego Batman Movie (2017)
About
: I love Batman and I love Legos, so this fits well together. Will Arnett is fun in the role of Batman, and the way this weaves together a lot of classic Pop Culture franchises is great. This is a really fun ride.

No. 1: The Lego Movie (2014)
About
: This is a fun and heart-felt film. Whether it’s the characters, the main theme of “Everything is Awesome” or the way it all comes together in the end, this warmed my heart. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but this ended up being a movie I really treasured and enjoyed.
