This week we kick off the Summer movie season with The Devil Wears Prada 2. It’s a highly anticipated sequel to the original film from 2006 written by Aline Brosh McKenna. In honor of its release, this week’s binge focuses on other films written by McKenna. Films appear in chronological order.

27 Dresses (2008)
About
: This romantic comedy features Katherine Heigl and a wild premise. It doesn’t have the same esteem as the best of her films, but I enjoyed the arc of the story. It’s also a pretty fun and remains popular with romcom lovers.

Morning Glory (2010)
About
: This is another romcom, this time with an amazing cast. Among the leads are Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, and Diane Keaton. It’s another film that got mixed critical reviews, but it’s a hit with those who are fans of genre.

We Bought a Zoo (2011)
About
: This film features Matt Damon as man with a vision. He moves his family to re-open a defunct zoo. It was directed by Cameron Crowe and got mixed reviews. But I enjoyed the story and the blend of comedy and drama.

Cruella (2021)
About
: This was one of the Disney live-action re-makes, but it focuses on the villain. Emma Stone takes the lead role in a film that was stylish and at times fun. This isn’t my favorite of these live action re-makes, but it might be one of the most popular on this list.

Your Place or Mine (2023)
About:
This was her most recent screen credit, a return to the romcom genre. It features Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. But it’s a different kind of take—one that has the leads separated for most of the film. It had some charm, but it was kind of a middling film.
