The episode begins with Mabel having a nightmare about waking up in the hospital birthing triplets. Hilariously, two of the children have the faces of Oliver and Charles, whom we know she takes care of and explains technology to. She wakes up in the hospital where Oliver is recovering from his heart attack. It’s now been five days, and the surgeons put in a stint. The musical opens in two days, and the three realize they must get Loretta out of jail. They figure she only confessed because she thinks Dickie is the killer. They are all so happy that the besties are back and working together, and so am I. They are all joking and poking fun at each other. Mabel is a softy and tells Oliver she had wanted to wait to watch the interrogations together after he was discharged.

The first thing the three of them do is go question Dickie. Before they leave, Oliver and Charles both get a delivery at Charles’s apartment. It was Joy’s wedding dress and a box of cookies for Oliver from Donna. When they talk to Dickie, they admit he was their suspect in his brother’s murder. He admits he covered up the tox screen since Ben was on drugs prescribed to him by the secret doctor that we saw giving Jonathan the same concoction. Oliver asks Dickie where he was if he didn’t kill his brother, so Dickie admits he left the building, got wasted, put on the CoBro suit, and searched for trouble. He thought his brother went to a brothel every Thursday afternoon for hookers, so he went to the exact location that night. He showed the trio proof that he wasn’t in the Arconia at the time of death.

They head to the address that Dickie gave them and attempt to get into the “brothel,” which Oliver knows too much about. He also thinks a ladder allows anyone to get in anywhere, so he has one in hand. When they enter Snitches Get Stitches, Charles cries to the guy at the front desk, hoping that emotional vulnerability is enough to get past him. When they go to the restroom, they sneak to the back, where it is revealed that Ben’s five whores are five seamstresses from his sewing circle. They stayed up all night helping him run lines and stitch hankies for his cast since he knew he didn’t treat his cast and crew well. Mei Mei plays a voicemail where he is asking them to show up since he can’t trust anyone.

Back at Charles’s apartment, they finally watch the interrogations. KT is first, and she says Ben was late because of all his gifts which she yelled at him about. Then, Cliff is outside Ben’s dressing room and offers him a cookie, the same brand that appeared for Oliver at the apartment. Ben denies it because he was fasting before the show and asks for him to check on his guests’ seats. Next, Dickie admits Loretta was encouraging him to leave Ben and giving Dickie advice. Ben steals Dickie’s notes he wrote about quitting, and they argue onstage. Right after, Howard heads to KT’s office to get the ritual broom, but that’s when he hears the shredding. Back in the moment, Howard is still trying to piece together the paper. At the fight call rehearsal, Ben accused Loretta of stealing his brother, and Charles hits him after the dialogue goes into real drama.

This is when Joy cleans up Ben’s face and accidentally leaves behind her lipstick, though she’s not there to give an interview. Then, Ben runs into Donna, who tells Cliff she refuses to let him fail. Tobert appears for a moment, only for Ben to steal his camera. After what is seemingly a dead end, Mabel explains she has been feeling like she’s been falling behind and pulls out her M.A.S.H. game from her childhood to show the boys. Today is her 30th birthday, but she is happy to be running around solving a murder with her friends.

When Howard brings down a shredded paper to put together, Oliver identifies it as the critic Maxine’s negative review. They realized how vital a good review was for the play to succeed since so many people’s careers were riding on it. Ben was the weak link, pulling the production down. In a surprise moment, Oliver grabs a dip from Charles’s fridge and puts a candle in it for Mabel to blow out. He talks to his favorite food in a loving voice, which leads Mabel to her next idea. She figures out Ben was talking to the cookie in his dressing room which he ate while upset. He wrote “f****** pig” on his own mirror about himself. He calls the sewing ladies looking for support but gets their voicemail.

Oliver deduces that it was Donna who read the review. She must’ve gotten a copy from the editor since it’s her son’s first production, shreds it, and protects her son by poisoning Ben. “Be nice to Ben” was the perfect manipulation to get him to do what she wanted. Also, she was in and out of the party all night, so she had the opportunity to push him down the elevator shaft. They do everything they can to get across town as quickly as possible to get to Loretta’s arraignment. Oliver begs her not to plead guilty and to trust him, but she is worried she has committed too hard to the lie. The episode ends on a perfect cliffhanger of Donna attending Loretta’s court appearance and staring the trio down. There is only one more episode to go before the killer is confirmed!
