It not “THE Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Its not “Texas Chainsaw (3D).” It’s not “Texas Massacre.” It’s not “Texmass Chainssacre.” It’s Netflix’s official release of 2018’s “Halloween”! Check out sad-face Leatherface, the return of Laurie Strode, the cringe of another horror-franchise having characters pretend to be internet trolls (I’m looking at you, “Scream.”), and an admittedly exciting idea of Leatherface emulating Darth Vader from “Rogue One”:
To be serious, I don’t know how to feel. Marilyn Burns passed away in 2014 and so they have Olwen Fouéré playing her character coming back after 50 years… The creative team behind this should be able to be trusted, but the shot of his head poking up in that field of snapping plants from “Legend of Zelda” already makes me laugh, which is sad because I had hopes that Netflix was pushing harder to be a platform for horror. But hey! It could be a lot of fun and have memorable characters! I Don’t know anything more than what this trailer tells me!

Directed by David Blue Garcia, written by Chris Thomas Devlin (with a story by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues of “Don’t Breathe” and “Evil Dead”), and produced by Fede Alvarez, Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel, Kim Henkel, Rodo Sayagues, and Shintaro Shimosawa, Netflix will release this streaming February 18th, 2022.
