TNF Preview, Week 7

Who plays on 'Thursday Night Football' tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 5 | Sporting News

Week 7 of the NFL Season is here, are you ready? As a fantasy manager, you need to brace yourself. This week seven teams—The Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers—are on a bye. That’s a lot of fantasy players unavailable. It’s essentially byepocalypse. In addition, there are injuries all over the place making lineup choices thin.

That’s especially true of our Thursday night game. The Browns are already without quarterback Baker Mayfield and running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. It’s being widely reported that Odell Beckham, Jr., is a longshot to play as well. A spot of good news is that backup Case Keenum is likely to have Jarvis Landry back in the lineup.

The Broncos aren’t in much better shape. Jerry Jeudy has only a slim chance of being activated for tonight, and the Broncos aren’t sure Teddy Bridgewater can go. He’s battling injuries and, even if he starts, there seems to be a decent chance we see Drew Lock at some point. That probably gives you shaky confidence at best that you can plug either into your lineup.

Then there’s the potential quality of the game. The Browns and Broncos were both 3-1 at one point. The Broncos, in fact, were 3-0. Both teams have been on a skid since the hot start. The Broncos have lost three straight, including being badly outplayed by the Raiders on Sunday. The Browns have lost the past two games including being badly outplayed by the Cardinals on Sunday. Both teams are 3-3 and now face the reality of falling into last place in their respective divisions should they lose.

Pressure combined with injuries makes me feel like we’re in for a potentially sloppy game. It feels like the kind of game that either ends up 31-30 or 6-3. As a fantasy player I’m hoping for points and as a Broncos’ fan I’m hoping for a win. As a realist, I’m pessimistic we see either. In short, Halloween comes early with this Thursday night showdown.
