2021 NFL Draft Wishful Pairings

The day is finally right around the corner and, folks, the NFL Draft is upon us. After months and months of hearing us talk about these guys, the conversation will shift to potentially on some of these prospects for the good and the bad. CEH was the prized winner last first round after being selected by the Chiefs. He saw his stock skyrocket up the draft boards.

Today I am going to play a fun game of wishful landing spots. With the quarterbacks, we do believe the top two are settled and maybe the three, but outside of that, we have a potential crapshoot. I will pair top prospects with a wishful landing spot.

Quarterbacks

Shoe-in

Trevor Lawrence – DUH. Jaguars.

90% likely

Zach Wilson – Jets – The word is this is happening but still wouldn’t be shocked to hear Justin Fields name.

Word on the Street

Mac Jones – 49ers? – The highly controversial conversation going around about the 49ers trading up for Mac and people aren’t happy.

Justin Fields – 49ers? – I think the 49ers could strongly go here without a doubt and honestly it would be great for Fields and the Fantasy Owners. But if not the 49ers, who?

So many layers could happen, the Falcons could pull the trigger but the Matt Ryan contract is ugly not just for this year but next too. Do the Falcons field offers? Or do they take a weapon like Kyle Pitts? Who know with this franchise to be honest.

Falcons pass, obviously the Bengals pass, but the real debate here is, what do the Dolphins do. We know they got the farm from the 49ers only to trade back up to the 6th slot. The fun thing here is the fact that everyone made fun of them for trading up, but now with Fields and even Lance on the board, QB hungry teams could move up to grab him. Could the Broncos make a move? What about the Patriots? Bears? Washington? This is where I hope the draft gets fun and honestly, if I am Fields/Lance with the weapons the Broncos have, I would love to play here.

Give me Fields in a Broncos uniform.

Trey Lance (in play for the 49ers as well) – Detroit Lions (or Patriots) – I am going on a crazy limb here. The Lions snagged 2022 first to take on Goff’s contract and trade away Stafford. Goff may play well, but I don’t think he is their guy. Lance can sit behind Goff for the year, learn the playbook and the Lions could move on.

Kyle Trask – Saints – This one could be the smoke screen of the draft but this is word on the street.
Jamie Newman – Steelers – I have been sold on this pairing for months.
Davis Mills – Titans – They need a backup, and even a quarterback of the future.
Kellen Mond – Bears miss out on any of the top-tier quarterbacks and take a flier here.

Running Backs

Will a running back be taken in the first round? Who knows.

Najee Harris – He seemed to be a lock for the first but his number in Vegas keeps going down. No matter what, any team is going to be getting a monster here and I think he does go in the first to the Buffalo Bills.

Travis Etienne – The Bucs were a hot spot for him recently but with them signing Gio, I don’t see that happening. Harris going to Miami has been popular but with the Bills taking him, give me the Dolphins to take Etienne.

Javonte Williams – Steelers – This honestly could put him to the top of the RB draft board if he lands here. Steelers have a need and Williams would fit that bill.
Michael Carter – Falcons – They signed Mike Davis but still need another guy, they get him here.
Chuba Hubbard – Bengals – Fill the void of Gio
Kenneth Gainwell – Broncos – Lindsay is gone and this may be Gordon’s last year with the team.

Wide Receivers

Who will be the first WR off the board? When will it happen? How many in the first? and who will get the best landing spot?

Ja’Marr Chase – How the whole quarterback carousel plays out will really depend on his landing spot. I think Bengals need to focus on the O-Line and that’s why I have him landing in Miami.

Jaylen Waddle – Eagles – They have so many needs but weapons are needed to help Hurt’s in year two.

Devonta Smith – The Lions could be in play but I had fun and have them going Lance, so give me the Patriots.

Terrace Marshall Jr. – Bengals – They don’t get Chase but they do get Burrow’s other weapon from College.

Kadarius Toney – Ravens – Toney will have more NFL appeal than Fantasy but however, he is the talk of the town and I think he will be drafted higher than his level of talent and I am staying completely away from him in Fantasy.

Rashod Bateman – Jets – a new toy for their new quarterback.

Rondale Moore – Jaguars – The goal of this draft is to surround Lawrence with weapons.

Elijah Moore – Packers – WISHFUL THINKING!!!!

Tight End

Kyle Pitts – Carolina Panthers – I love this landing spot and a loaded team on offense, only gets better.
Pat Freiermuth – Jacksonville Jaguars – They need more weapons for Lawrence and they get a big one for him with Freiermuth.
Brevin Jordan – Los Angeles Chargers – I think he is flying way under the radar and it will depend on landing spot but he could sneak his way up draft boards with landing here.
