This week Aaron Sorkin’s follow up to The Social Network is out in theaters. That film, released in 2010, was a landmark one for Sorkin as a writer. This week’s binge looks at the feature films he’s been a part of since its release. Films appear in chronological order.

Moneyball (2011)
About
: This was a fascinating film that adapted the non-fiction book about Billy Beane and how he changed baseball. The script moves at a great pace, and this remains an iconic sports film even 15 years later.

Steve Jobs (2015)
About
: This is another biopic, and another fascinating script from Sorkin. This one sees Michael Fassbender as the famous Apple CEO. It was one of the best dramas released that year and a great collaboration with Danny Boyle.

Molly’s Game (2017)
About
: This was a fascinating drama. Not only did Sorkin work on the screenplay, but he made his directorial debut here. I think this film is under-rated and was a lot of fun.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
About
: Another film written and directed by Sorkin. This one made its debut on Netflix and did well during a weird time for films. I enjoyed it, but I think it may have done better with awards bodies because of the pandemic. It also earns more hate than it deserves.

Being the Ricardos (2021)
About
: This is another sort of pandemic era film that Sorkin wrote and directed. It featured Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem as the iconic couple and there was plenty of potential, but this one didn’t hit as hard as it should have.
