The NFL Season is nearly upon us. The season kicks off on Wednesday, September 9. Between now and then, we’ll be previewing all 32 NFL Teams along with playoff picks. One team will be previewed each day, beginning with the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks and ending with the New York Jets. Check back each day for the next installment!

The Jets weren’t a great team in 2026. Justin Fields turned out not to be the answer at quarterback and the defense struggled mightily. The team couldn’t get wins and ended up with one of the worst records in the league. That led to some big changes this off-season, as the Jets replaced both coordinators and changed quarterbacks. Will it spark the team in 2026? Let’s dive in.

Off-Season Changes

The Jets parted ways with Fields, who was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. In his place, the team brought back Geno Smith, who was drafted by the Jets before heading to Seattle and last year the Las Vegas Raiders. Smith will be the new quarterback for new Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich, who is hoping to re-build the Jets. The Jets also brought in veteran receiver Tim Patrick and kicker Jason Sanders.

In the draft, the Jets used a First-Round pick on edge David Bailey to help the defensive attack. They used a second First-Round pick on tight end Kenyon Sadiq. He caught 80 passes for 892 yards and 11 touchdowns with Oregon in college. He figures to be a big weapon for the team. The Jets also used a third First-Round pick on receiver Omar Cooper, Jr. He caught 69 passes for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns for the National Champion Indiana Hoosiers in 2025.

Fantasy Impact

Smith is in at quarterback, but will it help? He was solid as a starter for the Seahawks but a disaster for the Raiders in 2025. He has QB2 upside with the Jets for Reich. In the backfield, the team re-signed Breece Hall. He has some RB1 upside and could be in for a good year if he stays healthy. He’s battling injuries now but should be back for the regular season. If not, Braelon Allen is a good flex option as a sub.

In the passing game, Garrett Wilson is the man at receiver. He has some WR1 upside, but I like him as a WR2. Adonai Mitchell and Cooper are also in the mix. It’s hard to trust either week-to-week right now, but both have deep roster value. At tight end, Sadiq figures to have the highest upside, but Mason Taylor is also there. I like the potential of both, it just depends on who ends up getting targets. I suspect both will get targets and hurt each other’s fantasy value in 2026. I like Sadiq the most as a TE2 with upside.

Prediction

The Jets should be better in 2026, but much of it depends on how Smith does as the starting quarterback. If he returns to form, I could see the Jets winning seven to nine games and pushing to hang in the Wild Card race. If he falters, this team could be a disaster again.
