Week 3 of the NFL Season comes to a close Monday night as the Eagles head to Chicago to battle the Bears. The Eagles are hoping to remain undefeated, while the Bears are just hoping to score more than the three points, they had last week. Below, I preview the game. But first, let’s look at what else we learned during Week 3 of the NFL Season.

The unbeaten crowd

There were eight teams that had a chance to move to 3-0 on the season. They didn’t all get there, and the Eagles are one of those teams yet to play. But many of the undefeated remained unbeaten by the end of the day. The Bills outlasted the Chargers, while the 49ers beat the Cardinals and the Chiefs got a bit road win over the Dolphins. The Vikings are atop the NFC North, moving to 3-0 against the Buccaneers. But perhaps one of the biggest surprises among the group is the Raiders. With Kirk Cousins at the helm holding off the No. 1 overall draft pick, the Raiders look like a potential force to be reckoned with in the NFL. The win over the Saints showed grit, heart, and an explosive offense.

The winless crowd

Going 0-3 isn’t totally a death sentence as the Houston Texans made the playoffs after that woeful start last year, but it’s still not great. And there are some surprises among the winless crowd. No one is surprised the Dolphins are winless. They figured to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this year, and that’s held up. Ditto for the Titans, a young team still trying to find some continuity. The team lost two at home before falling in an ugly game against the Giants. Now, they might be without De’Von Achane. But the Buccaneers slipped to 0-3, with Baker Mayfield going out with injury. That doesn’t bode well moving forward for the team, nor for Todd Bowles, who figures to be on the hot seat. We also have a pair of AFC Playoff teams from 2025 that are 0-3. The Chargers figured to be among the contenders in the AFC, and yet they lost to the Raiders and Cardinals at home before blowing a lead in Buffalo Sunday. And the Texans were the loser in the battle of 0-2 contenders in Indianapolis. The team moved from 0-3 to the playoffs in 2025, now they’ll have to try and beat the odds and repeat the feat to do it again.

The Patriots are in trouble

Last year’s AFC Champions are off to a grim start. The team lost opening night but managed a home win in Week 2 against a woeful Steelers team. Despite the win, the offense didn’t look good. The offense was little more than a rumor on Sunday, as the Patriots fell 35-3 to the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Now sitting at 1-2 with Drake Maye looking lost on the field the Patriots have a lot of work to do if they want to return to the post-season.

Now, on to Monday Night Football.

Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) at Chicago Bears (1-1)

The Eagles are among the unbeatens though it hasn’t always been pretty. It was a close win over the Commanders in Week 1 and a come-from-behind win against the Titans in Week 2. The Bears, meanwhile, have been a Jekyll and Hyde act. They set a record with 59 points in Week 1 before being held to just three points in a loss in Week 2. Now, they will go into this game short-handed.

For the Eagles, Jalen Hurts is a low-end QB1 for me. I think he could do well in the game. In the backfield Saquon Barkley has battled injuries, but he’s a low-end RB2 for me. In the passing game, I like DeVonta Smith. He’s a WR1 for me. I also like Dontayvion Wicks as a Flex option.

For the Bears, Tyson Bagent is cleared and will start. I think he’s a QB3. In the backfield, I like D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. I think Swift is a low-end RB2, while Monangai is a flex option. In the passing game, both Luther Burden and Rome Odunze have upside, but both are just flex options for me. I’m staying away from Colston Loveland, who has just one reception in two games, until we see more consistency.
