The latest D.C. project, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is finally due out Friday. The film stars Zachary Levi as the titular hero. For this week’s Binge, I’m looking at five Levi projects outside of Shazam!
Chuck (2007-2012)
About: My first introduction to Levi was through the NBC show Chuck, which ran five seasons. It was a great blend of comedy and drama with Levi in the lead role as Charles “Chuck” Bartowski. He’s great in the lead role.
Tangled (2010)
About: Here, Levi provides the voice of Flynn Rider, one of the main characters in this animated fairy tale. He’s opposite Mandy Moore in this one, which has become a classic. Again, Levi is great in the role.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
About: It turns out Shazam! wasn’t the first bite at the superhero apple for Levi. He pops up in the second and third Thor film as part of Thor’s Asgardian entourage. It’s not a big part but Levi seems to be having fun in the role.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2018-2019)
About: This series is about Rachel Brosnahan’s lead character. In the second season, he plays her love interest. I enjoyed his character and I enjoy the show a great deal. Both are worth checking out.
American Underdog (2021)
About: In probably his biggest non-Shazam! role, Levi plays quarterback Kurt Warner in this biopic. This follows Warner’s story from packing groceries to playing for the Rams in the Super Bowl. I loved this movie when it came out. It’s a great sports film.
