TNF Preview, Week 9

We’ve seen some good matchups on Thursday nights that haven’t turned into good games and we’ve seen some curious matchups that saw the winner score 12 points. This week, we get an incredibly lopsided matchup. The Eagles are the league’s only undefeated team, coming in at 7-0 and first or second in most NFL power ranking polls. The Houston Texans won a game and tied another, but they’re tracking toward a Top 5 pick.

Sometimes you can sell the intrigue and potential of the game despite lopsided records. That’s not the case here. The Eagles should win this game easily. I doubt the contest will be in doubt, the big question is what does it mean for fantasy.

We’ll start with the Texans. There are six teams on a bye, so you need every healthy scoring player you can find. I still like Dameon Pierce as an RB2. It’s a tough matchup and the play calling has been curious, but he’s their best player. I’m not bullish on Davis Mills, despite the fact there are only 26 quarterbacks total playing this week. If I’m desperate, and you might be, Brandin Cooks is a low-end flex option. That’s it for the Texans.

For the Eagles, you want to play Jalen Hurts at quarterback, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith at receiver, Dallas Goedert at tight end and Miles Sanders at running back. I am playing them all but my only word of caution is it’s a short week and if the Eagles get up early—which they should—we might see some reserves, capping the ceiling for these players. But, you can’t sit any of them, especially in a week like this.

Now, on to my Week 9 picks!
