TNF Preview, Week 7

Week 7 of the NFL Season is here, beginning as per usual with the Thursday Night Football Game. These games haven’t been great of late. Will tonight be any better? Without sounding too much like a Magic 8-Ball, I’m going to say signs point to no.

This week we get the 2-4 New Orleans Saints traveling to battle the 2-4 Arizona Cardinals. Both teams have struggled and both are struggling with injuries. That creates plenty of moving pieces, which hasn’t proven a great recipe on a short week. I doubt it is tonight, as the Saints’ receiving corps is deleted, the Cardinals running back room is depleted and the Cardinals are rotating passing weapons. At least Arizona has its quarterback and gets to be at home.

For fantasy, I’m only trusting two Saints—Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara. Kamara has been carrying the load on the ground and as a receiver, doing well with Andy Dalton at quarterback. Dalton starts again tonight. Olave is returning from a concussion but is the most solid offensive weapon his team has. Fire him up. Taysom Hill is another consideration, but he’s more of a YOLO shot. If you’re lineup needs a potential miracle, he’s your tight end. Otherwise, I’m not sure he has the safest floor.

For the Cardinals, James Conner appears to be a longshot while Darrel Williams and Marquise Brown are out. The Cardinals traded for Robbie Anderson Monday, but I’m not convinced he’s active—and if he is, I’m not thinking he’ll be well-versed in the offense. DeAndre Hopkins does return, which is a boon. I’m rolling out Murray, tight end Zach Ertz, Hopkins and a flex-option in Rondale Moore. That’s it, for now. Eno Benjamin will get the backfield load but Arizona’s running game hasn’t been stellar.

Let’s just hope the winner manages more than 12 points.
