TNF Preview, Week 16

Who plays on 'Thursday Night Football' tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 16 | Sporting News

In past years, this as been the final week of the Fantasy Football Season. With the new 17-game schedule, it’s the semi-finals. Did you make it? If you did, you’re likely trying to soak in every piece of information available. The week features a game tonight, games on Saturday, a full slate on Sunday and a battle on Monday night. That’s it, unless we get some more COVID related changes. This is the final week, however, for the Thursday Night Football slate, and it’s ending on a high note.

Tonight’s battle features a pair of teams in the thick of the playoff race. The Tennessee Titans started the season hot, sweeping their division rivals the Colts and building a lead in the AFC South. That lead has since dropped to one game as the 9-5 Titans have suffered a barrage of injuries to stars. But that could change tonight as Julio Jones is off the injury report and star receiver A.J. Brown appears poised to be activated from IR. The Titans will need them if they want to hold off the red-hot Colts.

On the flip side, the 49ers started slowly but have caught fire of late. At 8-6 the 49ers are locked into a playoff slot as long as they stay hot. The team will again be without rookie running back Elijah Mitchell, but veteran Jeff Wilson, Jr., has proven more than capable of handling the load. The 49ers’ offense has also been powered by a red-hot George Kittle at tight end and great play from Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has also been strong in this stretch, keeping Trey Lance, the No. 3 overall pick, has remained on the bench.

In terms of fantasy, for the Titans, Ryan Tannehill is a low-end Superflex option, while D’Onta Foreman is the running back I prefer, coming in as a Flex for me. If A.J. Brown plays, I am starting him and hoping for a WR2 performance. If Brown doesn’t get activated, I’m passing on any Titan pass catcher. I get Jones’ name, I just haven’t seen consistent production.

For the 49ers, I like Jimmy G. as a QB start in Superflex and would be a borderline consideration for me in single QB. I like Wilson as a low-end RB2 and Aiyuk as a flex play. Kittle is a Top 3 TE option, and I like Samuel as a WR1, especially since he’s been getting carries. I suspect the 49ers will win this and continue their playoff march.
