MCDI Trailer House! (12-17-2021)

Welcome back to the end of the week! Gear up for the end of the year and the start of a new one with a variety of teases and trailers for some big and interesting projects.

“Minamata” was released in many countries last year but will soon have its US debut. It features an impressive cast even beyond Johnny Depp, and the story revolves around a photographer from WWII working for ‘Life’ magazine while exposing a mercury poisoning scandal:

Directed by Andrew Levitas and written by David Kessler, Andrew Levitas, Jason Forman, and Stephen Deuters, Samuel Goldwyn Films will released this in select US theaters December 15th, 2021 ( I know it’s later but people should know to help support on VOD and DVD)

“Operation Fortune: Rose De Guerre” seems calmer and smoother than most action movies directed by Guy Ritchie, but it also features a stacked cast and I’m excited to see Hugh Grant in another villainous role:

Directed by Guy Ritchie and written by Ivan Atkinson, Marn Davies, and Guy Ritchie, STX Ent. will release this in theaters January 21st, 2022.

A Shot Through The Wall” is a less escapist, tense exploration of a Chinese officer who accidentally shoots an innocent Black man, and it seems to combine police and courtroom drama in an engaging way:

Written and directed Aimee Long and produced by Daniel Langa and Aimee Long, Vertical will release this in select US theaters and on VOD January 21st, 2022.

“The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” is the Nicolas Cage movie about Nicolas Cage dealing with the life of Nicolas Cage, attempting to settle some debt by spending time with a wealthy fan (Pedro Pascal):

Directed by Tom Gormican and written by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, Lionsgate will release Tthis in theaters April 22nd, 2022.

“Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop” is a smaller-budget supernatural mystery and seems to be a perfectly fine installment in a genre that has lately had a resurgence in popularity:

Directed by Brad Watson and written by Josh Ridgway and Kate Wood, Lionsgate will release this direct-to-VOD and on DVD February 8th, 2022.

“Brazen” features Alyssa Milano in a murder mystery for Netflix… there’s not much else to say but it has it’s appeal:

Directed by Monika Mitchell and written by Suzette Couture, Donald Martin, and Edithe Swensen, Netflix will release this streaming on Netflix January 13th, 2022.

“You Won’t Be Alone” reflects Noomi Rapace‘s turn in “Lamb” this year, though it seems to be a slightly more supernatural turn for a thriller:

Written and directed by Goran Stolevski and produced by Kristina Ceyton, Focus Features will release this in theaters April 1st, 2022… and I’m pretty sure that’s not a joke.

And finally, we have Adrien Brody taking on a bloodier, possibly more grounded cross between something grounded like “Gone Baby Gone” and action heavy like “John Wick.” This is “Clean”:

Directed by Paul Solet, written by Adrien Brody and Paul Solet, and produced by Adrien Brody, Elliot Brody, Paul Solet, and Daniel Sollinger, IFC Films will release this in select US theaters and on VOD January 28th, 2022.
