Fight Fire with Fliers is a weekly fantasy football series that discusses emergency free agent adds or stash candidates for deep rostered or 14-plus team leagues. The post publishes on Saturdays following typical weekly waiver runs, allowing forward thinking managers a last minute opportunity to roster players ahead of their breakouts.
The Fliers Catalogue lucked into two fine additions this week as byes have forced managers’ hands. Damien Williams returned to the recommendation ranks but may be falling out completely with Khalil Herbert as another viable option behind David Montgomery. Additions from last week have been removed from consideration. Rhamondre Stevenson, although not recommended, bumped above the rostership threshold ahead of a likely “out” designation this week. While already promoted, Pat Freiermuth ascended into must-start territory alongside Dawson Knox with a TE1 overall performance against the Bears on Monday with five receptions for 43 yards and two TDs.
The Flier Catalogue
Week 10 Additions
Samaje Perine RB Cinncinati (Eight percent, Yahoo!)
Perine has been revitalized and fits the mold of horsecuff to Joe Mixon. The up-tempo nature of the offense and Perine’s propensity to be functional in the passing game make him an ideal candidate for this list, much like Chris Evans before him but with the consistent rushing component. Cincinnati has a bye this week, however, and rostering Perine may be more of a luxury for those who are less impacted.
Rashaad Penny RB Seattle (Eight percent, Yahoo!)
Few managers still remain faithful to Penny’s draft capital expectations. Fortunately, for those investing in the long-shot, Penny is now readily available on the wire. Seattle was on bye last week, which led to a precipitous drop in rostership that has not recovered even with Chris Carson expected to be out this Sunday. Alex Collins has been the hot-hand as of late, but Penny looms with untapped potential. Penny still needs pieces to fall in place to have the opportunity needed, but the upside of a back that could handle all three downs is alluring.
