Marvel’s Enternals had it’s world premier tonight. Here is what people are saying about Marvel and Chloe Zhao’s newest film.
How is Chloe Zhao’s direction?
Eternals is Marvel’s version of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. A film that builds upon a cast of unknown characters and does so with great success. Chloé Zhao direction is superb. Easily one of the best looking Marvel films of all time. Insane post credits scenes too. #Eternals pic.twitter.com/TbZlqPJxGQ

#Eternals is amazing! Chloé Zhao & company turn in an evocative, emotional, extraordinarily epic superhero film. The ensemble have great chemistry & all get big Movie Moments to showcase their prowess. The naturalism of Ben Davis’ cinematography spotlights characters’ humanity. pic.twitter.com/MjZ2VheJ56

Fresh off her Oscar win, Chloé Zhao doesn’t miss a step with Marvel’s #Eternals.

Eternals is one of the most visually stunning comic films we’ve seen. Zhao has a great eye for detail and we see that with her set pieces and character designs which pay homage to the comics (1/4) pic.twitter.com/v1kTln0udL
Aside from a few dazzling moments & a wonderfully diverse cast, ETERNALS disappointed me. The story is an expository convoluted mess as it jumps through time & multiple continents with an uneven tone. Ramin Djawadi’s score soars but Chloé Zhao’s distinctive style is sadly absent. pic.twitter.com/OXcTw2OYJr

How’s the cast?
There’s A LOT of story to devour in #Eternals (it spans thousands of years!), but Zhao does a good job balancing it all. Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry & Kumail Nanjiani were my favs, but everyone is good & they all have fascinating powers. Some truly great character moments, too pic.twitter.com/ZUDBGfHeXq

#Eternals is probably the most shocking and surprising Marvel movie you’ll see. Many twists and turns. Kumail Nanjiani Is hilarious in every scene. As always, stay to the VERY end. pic.twitter.com/Z3Hm6Vxznx

Is there too much going on?
#Eternals is one of the most ambitious MCU movies yet, but it’s also fairly messy.

Impressive visuals and a talented cast don’t save the convoluted plot. A story so huge, spanning centuries, that it felt like 2/3 of the movie was exposition. It never truly came together for me. pic.twitter.com/syF4x0nTpj
#ETERNALS is a cosmic mix. The action of the 90s combined with the exploitation films of the 70s, but with modern touches. It's hyperviolent, but it knows what it is. It's a little bit Tarantino. It's definitely a little bit Michael Mann. It's kind of a cosmic gumbo.

How does this film compare to the rest of the MCU?
#Eternals REVIEW — Well, #Eternals is huge in cast, story, scale. It's beautifully told with excellent music, acting and pacing. It's one of the more "cinema" Marvel movies to date and deserves a place in the upper tier of MCU films.

Chloé Zhao’s #Eternals is MESMERIZING and unlike anything we’ve seen before in the MCU. It breaks the the familiar mold and delivers an EPIC and beautifully crafted story that is GRAND, yet grounded in a love of humanity. #Eternals is a whole lot of movie.
— BD (@BrandonDavisBD) October 19, 2021
It’s shot with a massive scope, looking visually different (and more intimate) than anything else Marvel. It has laughs, great surprises, and heart to go with the gigantic, crowded story it unpacks.
Chloé Zhao has a really unique visual stamp. pic.twitter.com/hSMtwRlabv
#Eternals was not what I expected at all, but in the best way! It went where no MCU film has gone before. The best way I could describe it is an epic fantasy ala Ben-Hur. https://t.co/Qh33IHYd0t

After 25 films Chloe Zhao incredibly took the MCU in an entirely new direction w/ #TheEternals. The franchise is matured & this is only the beginning of what is possible.

An absolutely breathtaking & epic film where @kumailn provides the laughs but @gemma_chan is the heart.
Is the movie good?
Holy crap – Eternals is a freaking MASTERPIECE!!! Packed with adrenaline right from the start, but also filled with lots of heart & humor! So many MCU firsts!! Your mind will be BLOWN! Nods to comics but a totally unique story. Those end credits are GAME CHANGERS!! #Eternals pic.twitter.com/jKiMJukn4S

#Eternals is a BOLD direction for Marvel as they embrace the maturity of their universe. While I did find some parts slow, the films scale is something to behold. Ensemble action sequences like you’ve never seen before.

#Eternals is DENSE & I felt the weight of the exposition often. Movie’s at its best when the focus is on the Eternals recreating their family – the humor of it & the passion when they fight for each other and the things they love. Also, Angelina Jolie in the MCU is EVERYTHING. pic.twitter.com/rMJz0U2It2
