The week comes to an end in the NFL with a Monday Night Football matchup between the Commanders and the 49ers. It’s a pair of teams that seem to be going in different directions. Still, it could be a fun matchup. I’ll preview the game below, but first a few takeaways from the rest of Week 6.

The Rams are in trouble

The Rams entered the season as a heavy Super Bowl favorite. They appeared to be a super team. But the cracks in the armor have been many. With a home loss to the Cardinals, the Rams dropped to 2-4 on the season. The same record as the Cardinals, and last place in the division. That’s not where they want to be and they’re running out of time to get it right.

The NFC Least

The Commanders play tonight, so they might reverse this, but so far, it’s been a bleak few weeks for the NFC East. Despite having two teams playing each other last week, the division didn’t have a win. That’s the case this week, too, as the Eagles sunk to 2-4, the Giants allowed the Saints to score 34 in a road win, and the Cowboys lost in Green Bay.

Browns holding strong

Cleveland continues to prove they will be in this race for the long haul. The Browns came up with a home win over the Ravens, moving to 4-2 on the season. The Ravens and Steelers are also 4-2. The Bengals, who were on a bye, are 3-2. It looks like this division is going to be a close fight all the way to the end.

And now, on to Monday Night Football.

Washington Commanders (1-3-1) at San Francisco 49ers (5-0)

The Commanders haven’t been great, but they are getting a little healthier. The 49ers, meanwhile, haven’t cared who is on the field. Whoever plays has done enough as they remain one of three unbeaten squads in the NFL. They’d like to be the first to reach 6-0.

For the Commanders, Jayden Daniels is a QB2 for me with upside. This is a good defense, but he’s a talented player. In the backfield, Jacory Croskey-Merritt is the best option. He’s a high-end flex with upside. In the passing game, I like Terry McLaurin as a WR2. Stefon Diggs is questionable but could be a flex if he plays. Chig Okonkwo is a TE2 for me.

For the 49ers, Brock Purdy has been great, and the Commanders’ defense isn’t great. He’s a QB1. In the backfield, Christian McCaffrey is still a dual threat. He’s a low-end RB1. In the passing game, I like Mike Evans as a high-end WR2 with upside and George Kittle as a TE1. It’s hard to say who else could contribute, but you never know with the 49ers.

I’m taking the 49ers to move to 6-0.
