The Packers made moves heading into the 2025 NFL Season, including gambling the future to acquire Micah Parsons. That made the Packers a trendy Super Bowl favorite. But, on the field, it didn’t play out that way. The Packers were inconsistent and struggled with injuries. That led to a 9-7-1 season, barely making the playoffs. The Packers fell in the Wild Card round and were left to wonder what might have been. Can they embrace the hype in a new way in 2026? Let’s dive in.

Off-Season Changes

The Packers saw some long-time receivers depart. Romeo Doubs signed a free-agent contract with the New England Patriots, where he figures to be the possession receiver for Drake Maye. Meanwhile, the team dealt Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles. In the backfield, longtime contributor Emanuel Wilson signed with the Seahawks. And backup Malik Willis, who was a great spot starter the past two seasons, followed Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hafley to the Miami Dolphins. The team also lost linebacker Quay Walker to the Raiders.

In the off-season, the Packers were relatively quiet. In the draft, after spending many picks for Parsons, the Packers nabbed cornerback Brandon Cisse in the Second Round as the team’s top pick. The Packers also signed defensive lineman Javon Hargrave from rival Minnesota Vikings. And the Packers acquired veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor to provide depth behind Jordan Love.

Fantasy Impact

Love entered last season with talk of being an MVP candidate. He finished as QB15. He feels like the quintessential QB2 option. He’s solid for Superflex but not a reliable week-to-week option in single QB leagues. In the backfield, it’s all about Josh Jacobs. If he stays healthy and available, he’s an RB1. He has some off-field issues that appear to have no impact in 2026, but it’s worth having a backup plan. The Packers don’t, at least not on the current roster where he is backed up by Chris Brooks and oft-injured MarShawn Lloyd.

In the passing game, on paper, the team is still loaded. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and second-year man Matthew Golden lead the receivers. But Watson and Reed have struggled to stay on the field and in 2025, Golden just struggled. He caught just 29 passes for 361 yards and no touchdowns. If pressed, I like Reed the best among the receivers, but it’s hard to rely on any as more than a WR3. I like Tucker Kraft at tight end, but he’s coming off an ACL injury. He may be slow to start the season, but he’s a low-end TE1 for me.

Prediction

The Packers’ roster has questions. The team also had some questionable production in 2025. With Parsons also coming off a major injury, and a new staff, the defense will have some growing pains. I think the Packers could easily slip to fourth place in a crowded division.
