Just about two months after the World Cup wrapped up, the US is gearing up for another major sporting spectacle as the NFL returns for a record-breaking season, with nine international games on the schedule this year – two more than last year. But which teams will leave fans facing the biggest price tags – and where can supporters find the most affordable tickets? 

As demand for NFL tickets surges, with searches for “NFL ticket deals” increasing by 350% over the first week of August, ticket experts SeatPick analyzed the average ticket prices across all 32 NFL teams for games taking place during the first month of the 2026 season to reveal which teams will leave fans with the biggest hole in their wallets.

Topping the NFL ticket price rankings, the Buffalo Bills are the most expensive team to watch this September, with tickets averaging a hefty $726 – almost double the NFL-wide average of $386. The biggest shock comes with their clash against the Detroit Lions at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York on September 17, with tickets averaging an eye-watering $1,137 per seat – making it the most expensive NFL game this September and the second priciest matchup of the entire 2026 season. But fans don’t necessarily have to pay four figures to see the Bills live – those looking for a more wallet-friendly option can catch Buffalo against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on November 15, where tickets average just $276  – less than a quarter of the price of the September showdown.

Detroit Lions fans are also paying a premium for a taste of NFL action this September, with tickets averaging $680 – 76% more expensive than the league-wide average ($386). In fact, the Lions are responsible for the month’s priciest individual matchup when they take on the Buffalo Bills on September 17. At $1,137 per seat, fans would need to fork out four figures before factoring in transport, refreshments and other matchday costs. Fans looking to save can wait until October when the Lions face the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on October 11 with tickets averaging just $212 per seat – less than a fifth of the price of their September blockbuster. 

The Chicago Bears come third on the list of the priciest team to watch this NFL season, with tickets averaging $626 in September – $240 more than the league-wide average of $386, and more than three times the price of an average Arizona Cardinals Game in the same month, where tickets cost just $202 per seat. Bears fans looking to catch their team without breaking the bank can instead wait until January, when Chicago faces Minnesota Vikings at US Bank Stadium on January 10, 2027, with tickets averaging just $229 per seat – nearly $400 less than the average September price.

Rounding off the top five priciest NFL teams to watch in September are the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, with tickets averaging $605 and $523 respectively. Patriots fans face a 57% premium on the league-wide average of $386 while Eagles fans get a slightly better deal but will still pay 35% more than the NFL average.

Arizona Cardinals fans are getting the biggest bargain this September, with tickets averaging just $202 – almost half the NFL-wide average of $386 and less than a third of the $726 average price for Buffalo Bills games. 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans can also enjoy NFL action without breaking the bank, with September tickets averaging just $221 – making Tampa Bay one of the league’s biggest bargains.

Cleveland Browns fans round out the three cheapest NFL teams to watch this September, with tickets averaging $230 per seat. That’s $156 less than the league-wide average. Even the Browns’ most expensive match comes in at just $312, when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 1 – with tickets about four times cheaper than the season’s most expensive matchup, Lions vs Bills ($1,137).

The Detroit Lions at Buffalo Bills showdown is officially the most expensive NFL game to watch this September, with tickets averaging an eye-watering $1,137 per seat at Highmark Stadium on September 17 – more than eight times the price than September’s cheapest game, Houston Texans vs Indianapolis Colts at just $136 per seat. 

The Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears follows at a whopping $710 per ticket at Soldier Field on September 20, while the Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears come close behind at $696 on September 28.
