We’re into the new league year and have seen major movement among veterans. We’re still a bit away from the draft, where rookies will start to shake up the standings. But this is start up season. So, if you’re looking to jump into dynasty, it’s time to take stock of the players available. Below is my Top 25 Dynasty TEs, divided into five tiers.
Tier 1:
No. 1: Brock Bowers
No. 2: Trey McBride
About: These top two tight ends have separated themselves. They are both not only the top at the position but the top pass-catcher for their team. They are great dynasty assets, but they could soon have some company.
Tier 2:
No. 3: Colston Loveland
No. 4: Tyler Warren
No. 5: Tucker Kraft
No. 6: Harold Fannin, Jr.
No. 7: Sam LaPorta
No. 8: Kyle Pitts
No. 9: Oronde Gadsen II
About: This is a great group of young tight ends that have tremendous upside. In the case of some, we’ve seen it and recently. In the case of some, they are still ascending. For Loveland and Warren, it’s possible they could move up a tier by this time next year. Maybe even Kraft. But I like all these players to produce at a high level and be a good value for dynasty players.
Tier 3:
No. 10: George Kittle
No. 11: Dalton Kincaid
No. 12: Jake Ferguson
No. 13: Mason Taylor
No. 14: Isaiah Likely
No. 15: Brenton Strange
No. 16: David Njoku
No. 17: T.J. Hockenson
About: This is that next group of tight ends. All of them have the potential in terms of talent and upside to reach the Top 12 in fantasy. But in this group, there are some greater risks. That includes middling offenses, an unclear path to targets, competition from Alpha wide receivers, injuries, and the age cliff. If you have these guys, you feel good, but you’d like to have another option, too.
Tier 4:
No. 18: A.J. Barner
No. 19: Gunnar Helm
No. 20: Cade Otton
No. 21: Chig Okonkwo
About: This is a group of solid players that should all be rostered. All of them have upside week-to-week. In fact, any of them could land as a TE1 for a week or a few weeks. But they are all more TE2s who face competition for targets in the offense and some inconsistency in their weekly role.
Tier 5:
TE22: Dallas Goedert
TE23: Mark Andrews
TE24: Terrence Ferguson
TE25: Hunter Henry
About: This is an interesting tier. It’s mostly older veterans who can still contribute but who have less time left. They also can disappear from week-to-week. But it also includes Ferguson, a young player with upside, who also faces competition for targets from elite receivers and other tight ends. These are players you roster but not guys you can count on as a weekly starter.
