Not all Christmas films are happy Christmas films. As the big day is approaching, this week’s binge takes a look at the darker side of Christmas films. Entries appear in chronological order.

Black Christmas (1974)
About:
This is about a killer stalking some sorority sisters. Of course, it was re-made in the early 2000s. But I’m keeping the original on here because most everyone agrees it’s the superior film!

Gremlins (1984)
About:
By now, we all know the rules. This isn’t the darkest tone for a horror film, but it has its moments. It’s a fun Christmas theme and it’s a film that has endured as a classic for year. Remember not to get them wet or feed them after midnight!

Krampus (2015)
About:
This is probably the go-to for most people when they think of a Christmas horror film. And it certainly fits the bill. The film does a nice job of telling a dark story and keeping up the tensions.

Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)
About:
Would any list be complete without Zombies, right? This is a zombie apocalypse set during Christmas. It’s a British film that’s a lot of fun and puts a nice twist on the Christmas horror genre.

It’s A Wonderful Knife (2023)
About
: Have you ever wanted to see It’s A Wonderful Life crossed with a slasher film? Then you’re in luck with this one, that is a combination of both. It’s not a bad slasher film, and it’s relatively short. So, Merry Christmas.
