The third film in the Now You See Me franchise is out this Friday. It boasts an all-star cast led by Jesse Eisenberg, who has been with the franchise since the beginning. It’s one of his signature roles. But, for this week’s Binge Watch, I’m looking at five other signature roles. Films appear in chronological order.
Adventureland (2009)
About: This is one of Eisenberg’s early starring roles, set in 1987 at an amusement park. Eisenberg is a co-lead opposite Kristen Stewart. They’re both quite good in a film that’s moving and amusing.
Zombieland (2009)
About: That same year, he was a co-lead in the first Zombieland film from director Reuben Fleischer. I think Eisenberg is fairly hilarious in this film and it’s a really fun ride. It’s a great take on the Zombie concept.
The Social Network (2010)
About: Here, he plays Mark Zuckerberg in a film that probably should have won Best Picture. He’s great in the lead role and it’s an incredible performance. I can’t understand why they are re-casting the part for the sequel.
Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice (2016)
About: Here, he plays Lex Luthor. I liked his work as Lex, and I actually like this film—especially the director’s cut. I think he does a nice job in this film, and I think this is an under-rated film.
A Real Pain (2024)
About: This was directed by Eisenberg as well. It won an Academy Award for Kieran Culkin. But Eisenberg delivers a searing performance in front of and behind the camera. If you haven’t seen it, this one is well worth checking out.
