This week Nobody 2 swings into theaters. The action/comedy features Bob Odenkirk in the lead role. While he’s best known for his work on the small screen, this week’s binge looks at some memorable film roles in the last 12 years. Films appear in chronological order.

Nebraska (2013)
About
: Here, Odenkirk plays in the sandbox with Alexander Payne. He’s the brother of Will Forte in this family dramedy. There are some fun sequences with the boys and their father, played by Bruce Dern. This is a good film role for Odenkirk.

The Post (2017)
About
: Odenkirk plays a supporting role in this historical drama from Steven Spielberg. The cast includes Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, telling a big, important story of the Washington Post. But Odenkirk plays a key role in this Oscar-nominated film.

Long Shot (2019)
About
: This comedy centers on Seth Rogen, as an unexpected speech writer and romantic foil, for a Presidential candidate played by Charlize Theron. Odenkirk plays a supporting role as the current President. He’s funny in the film, which I think is somewhat under-rated at this point.

Little Women (2019)
About
: Here, Odenkirk plays the father of the March girls. It’s a smaller role, and not a big focal point, in what was an excellent adaptation from Greta Gerwig. If nothing else, Odenkirk has been in some marquee films!

Nobody (2021)
About
: Here, Odenkirk was the star. He is a mild-mannered man and father who is actually a brutal and talented killer in hiding. Due to circumstances, he has to reveal himself. And some great action sequences ensue. This was a mild hit and spawned the sequel we’re getting this week!
