This week Sinners comes out featuring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role. The film is also directed by Ryan Coogler. The pair have worked together on four previous films. This week’s binge is dedicated to their previous pairings. Films appear in chronological order.

Fruitvale Station (2009)
About:
This film is based on a true story, and it was a first big feature for both actor and director. Here, Jordan plays Oscar Grant, a young man who was tragically killed by police. The film chronicles his last day and is an emotional, well-produced look at his life and the tragic incident.

Creed (2015)
About:
The star and director came together again, this time for the re-boot of the Rocky franchise. Here, Jordan plays the son of Carl Weathers’ iconic character from that franchise. As a fighter, he’s trained by Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) and makes a title run. Jordan has returned for two more, with a fourth film on the way. But Coogler only directed the first. This is an engaging film that features some great performances.

Black Panther (2018)
About
: Here, Coogler took his turn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chadwick Boseman was the lead here and our hero, but Jordan gets a juicy role as the primary villain. He dominates his scenes and is great in the part. Their final faceoff is a lot of fun.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
About:
How could Jordan return for the sequel after his character died in the original? Well, with the death of Boseman, the film needed a dream sequence for Shuri (Leticia Wright) as she dons the mantle. Jordan steps right in and does a beautiful job in a small but memorable role.
