This week we get the latest Steven Soderberg film, Black Bag. The spy thriller is written by veteran writer David Koepp, who has been turning out hits since the early 1990s. In honor of its release, this week’s binge is dedicated to five previous films written by Koepp. Films appear in chronological order.

Jurassic Park (1993)
About
: For more than 30 years, this has been a classic. It’s an adaptation of the novel from Michael Crichton and a great film from Steven Spielberg that spawned a franchise that’s six films deep and continuing. But Koepp was the man behind the first installment, one of my favorite films of all time.

The Paper (1994)
About
: I love a good journalism film, and this is certainly a good one. It is directed by Ron Howard and stars Michael Keaton, among others. It’s a banger that is also one of my favorite films of all time and an incredibly under-rated 1990s gem!

Mission Impossible (1996)
About:
Speaking of films that sparked a franchise, we’re still going with Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. But the film that started it all? It’s this one from the late 1990s that was written by David Koepp!

Panic Room (2002)
About
: Koepp has worked with some great directors. Here, he works with David Fincher on a film that is probably one of his more under-rated titles. It starred Jodie Foster and had a good bit of action and a claustrophobic premise.

Spider-Man (2002)
About
: This was the Tobey Maguire film that kicked off a run of Spider-Man films on the big screen that has never stopped. We’ve seen other Spider-Men and other writers, but it was this script from Koepp that kicked off the original Sam Raimi-led film.
