Anna Kendrick’s new movie, Woman of the Hour, drops Friday on Netflix. It’s a 1970s-set murder mystery, which might not be what you think of when you hear Kendrick’s name. She’s best known for being in the Twilight, Trolls, and Pitch Perfect franchises. And yet, she’s had a varied career. Today’s binge looks at five different, non-franchise films she’s done over the last decade. Films appear in chronological order.

The Accountant (2016)
About
: This one is really about Ben Affleck, and his beautiful mind level hit man. But Kendrick plays a key role opposite him in this drama. It’s a different kind of part, but she’s really good in it. They keep saying a sequel is in the works, so maybe we’ll see more? Either way, I enjoy her in this.

A Simple Favor (2018)
About
: This is a black comedy that pairs Kendrick and Blake Lively. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one, but I really liked the pairing, and I really liked the tone here. This is a good hidden gem and features a good Kendrick performance.

Noelle (2019)
About
: Here, Kendrick plays the daughter of Santa Clause and Bill Hader plays her brother. This is a holiday film and something of a comedy. I really enjoyed the back-and-forth here. This was a lot more fun than expected.

Alice, Darling (2022)
About
: Here was a different kind of role for Kendrick, who played a woman trapped in an abusive relationship. Much of the film is about her two friends who try to convince her to leave. It’s a different kind of role and a darker, more emotional film.

Self Reliance (2024)
About: This film stars Jake Johnson as a man trying to win in a game where he has to avoid assassins. Kendrick co-stars as a fellow contestant who becomes his friend. Their back-and-forth is charming. This movie released to steaming in January and is worth checking out if you’ve never seen it.
