The 2023 Academy Award nominations are a week away. Over the last few weeks, we’ve had the Golden Globes, SAG Nominations, and the Critics Choice Awards and have shifted many things across the board. Today, I share my final 2024 Oscars Predictions for the Best Picture category.
Best Picture Nominations
- Barbie (Winner) (^)
- Oppenheimer (↓)
- Killers of the Flower Moon (↓)
- Poor Things (^)
- American Fiction (^)
- The Holdovers (-)
- Past Lives (^)
- Maestro (↓)
- The Zone of Interest (-)
- The Color Purple (-)
Outside look in: Anatomy of a Fall, May December, Saltburn
Thoughts: Alright, The Holdovers seems to a be movie that many are saying could be in the race for WINNING Best Picture, but I still have this as Barbie vs. Oppenheimer. For now, I still have Barbie winning, but after the nominations come out, I could alter that. One thing is for sure is the final few spots have plenty of intrigue.
The PGA nominations came in and saw each of my top 8 make it in the conversation with The Color Purple missing for Anatomy of a Fall with the latter being predicted by many to take that tenth slot. The case is strong for it to be in the conversation, but I am holding out with my gut saying The Color Purple claims that last spot.
A few other films that could surprise you are May December, Saltburn, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Air.
