‘Steal Away’ Director Stephen Blake Interview

Based on Andrew Ward’s critically-acclaimed Dark Midnight When I Rise comes the electrifying true story of Ella Sheppard and the Fisk Jubilee Singers, whose bid to fight back against the KKK is driven by faith and freedom. Steal Away is a phenomenally moving tale that is prepared to take theatres by storm as a spectacularly diverse cast and crew get set for production later this year.

From Realm Pictures and director Stephen Blake, Steal Away holds a unique approach to drawing in its cast and crew as one and all are invited to get involved with a percentage of profits heading towards HBCUs.

I sat down with Stephen Blake as we delved into his creative process, the importance of establishing authenticity within the film and on-set, and his inspirational passion that set this project in motion.
