Since he was a boy, Alex Harz committed to climbing Mt. Everest. While at home in Denver, he saw something on TV that sparked the memory of that childhood promise—one he sought to fulfill. After training and planning, Harz filmed his journey to the country of Nepal, home to Mt. Everest, capturing life there and the people he met along the way.
The Quest: Nepal is the record of that journey and the work it took to reach the summit. The film invites viewers to become enthralled by one of the most surreal cities on earth, Kathmandu, before embarking on an expedition up the sacred valley of the indigenous Sherpa people during a nine-day trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Feel what it is like to climb and survive for 43 more grueling days at 17,500 feet to try to reach the 8,849 meter summit of planet earth.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Harz and talk about the film and the journey, from his preparation, to learning about the culture, to reaching the summit and what comes next. You can learn more about the film at https://www.thequesteverest.com.
