The wait is finally over, as the official trailer for Marvel Studios “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was released to the world on Tuesday night at a live fan event in Los Angeles. The third installment in the MCU Spider-Man series comes out on December 17th, and with so little time left until the film is released, fans were anticipating big things from the trailer, and the Tom Holland-led preview did not disappoint. Here are our biggest takeaways and questions from the trailer:
While Alfred Molina’s Doc Oak and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin had been shown and teased, respectively, in the teaser trailer, this was the first time we were able to see the return of Jamie Foxx’s Electro , presumably Rhys Ifans Lizard, and more than likely Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman as they all team up to take on Spider-Man. They seem to be absolutely wreaking havoc on Peter, and there only seems to be one way for him to come out of this fight alive, but Sony and Marvel have been pretty hush-hush on that so far, so we won’t spoil anything here….
Time for an upgrade, sir
Speaking of Doc Oak, it seems like he has gotten quite the upgrade to his tentacles. The trailer makes it a point to pan past one of the sentient arms, and it seems that it has the exact same color scheme as Tony Stark’s (RIP) Iron Man suits. Does the ole Doctor of Octopuses make a pit stop at Stark Industries to make sure he doesn’t die this time around at the hands of a Spider-Man? If that is the case, then one would have to wonder what other technological upgrades he was able to grab for his villainous, multiversal friends.
In what is a callback to the death of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it seems that Zendaya’s MJ is going to be in some very serious peril in No Way Home. With this being the third of what is more than likely a trilogy, the possibility of killing off a major character is absolutely there, but it didn’t seem likely that MJ would be the one to die. With this trailer, all bets are off now until December 17th when the movie comes out.
