TNF Preview, Week 9

Who plays on 'Thursday Night Football' tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 7 | Sporting News

We’re in Week 9 of the NFL Season, the first full week of November. The pressure is increasing as teams start looking toward the post-season, or the tough decisions facing them in the off-season. That applies to both the combatants on Thursday night. The New York Jets have struggled, as has No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson. But with Wilson out on Sunday, backup Mike White went off.

For the Colts, it’s a matter of needing every win they can get to claw back into the post-season race. The Colts are 3-5, having been swept by the division-leading Tennessee Titans. If the Colts want to return to the AFC Playoffs, they’ll likely have to dominate the rest of their schedule and hope to get in as a Wild Card.

Now, the two teams clash on Thursday Night Football. For the Jets it’s a question of whether White can do it again. For the Colts it’s a matter of picking up the wins they should get in order to move up in the AFC standings. Both teams are hungry for a win and, despite their collective 5-10 record, this one could be fun to watch.

From a fantasy perspective, there’s plenty to like as well. For the Colts, Jonathan Taylor has been on fire. He’s a Top 5 play at the position for me. Michael Pittman, Jr., has also developed into a true No. 1 receiver. He’s Top 12 for the season and I expect him to finish Top 12 this week. He should be in your lineup. As for the rest, I like Carson Wentz as a high-end QB2, while Mo Allie-Cox is a decent streaming tight end option. If you’re desperate, it’s possible Nyheim Hines has flex value in the backfield.

For the Jets, I’m excited to see White play but I’m moderating expectations. I have him as a mid-level QB2 this week. The real top fantasy option is running back Michael Carter, who has been on a tear. I think he’s a Top 12 option at the position this week. Ty Johnson could return flex value in the backfield, while Jamison Crowder is the top receiving option for me with Corey Davis doubtful.
