MCDI Trailer House 10-29-2021

Read on for a spotlight on a few notable trailers for upcoming projects for all sorts of movie fans!

To start, as a send-off to Halloween, we have Bruce Campbell, Michael Jai White, and Devon Sawa among the leads for “Black Friday,” a holiday take on zombies which seems to be fun:

Directed by Casey Tebo, written by Andy Greskoviak, and premiered at Fantastic Fest this year. Screen Media Films will release this in select US theaters on November 19th, 2021, then on VOD starting November 23rd.

Next we have a more serious, INTENSE turn from a crew shooting a kitchen led through a rough night in ONE TAKE with star Stephen Graham… “Boiling Point”:

Directed by Philip Barantini, written by Philip Barantini and James Cummings. Saban Films will release this in select US theaters on November 19th, 2021 and on VOD starting November 23rd.

Next is “India Sweets and Spices” (for another tonal shift) which appears to be sold here as a family comedy in the vein of “Crazy Rich Asians” (Same producer(s)) and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and stars Sophia Ali, who we also recently saw in the trailer for Uncharted:

Directed by Indian filmmaker Geeta Malik, produced by Naomi Despres, John Penotti, and Gigi Pritzker. Bleecker Street will release this in select US theaters starting November 19th, 2021.

Now we swing back to a SURPRISING amount of intensity for “True Story”.” Initially I thought this was a setup for a feature framing Kevin Hart’s stand-up… then I saw Wesley Snipes… and Billy Zane… then things got DARK:

Directed by Stephen Williams and Hanelle M. Culpepper, written by Eric Newman, and produced by Tiffany Brown, Caroline Currier, Charles Murray, and Mike Stein. Netflix will release this SERIES on November 24th, 2021.

The next is included singularly due to the concept of filming a story as a hybrid of a stage production and traditional movie. “Famous,” follows an A-List star who feels pressured to expose the “truth” behind Hollywood. I’m already bored but the filmmaking premise is…different:

Written and directed by stage director / filmmaker Michael Leoni, Kandoo Films will release this direct-to-VOD on December 10th, 2021.
