The rumor that came out in the previous weeks can now be confirmed as Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 will be heading to Netflix from Paramount for $56 million.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 follows protestors from the famous Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968. The film is written by Aaron Sorkin, who will also direct, and stars Michael Keaton, Sacha Baron-Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and more.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 looks to be a big awards contender in the 2021 Oscars, and look for more movies to be moved to streaming platforms in an effort to compete for the gold this upcoming year.
The film was set for a September release, but with the move to Netflix that date could change. Look for it, however, to be released before the upcoming 2020 Presidential Election in November.
