What to Watch This Weekend

Between VOD, Redbox, Netflix and the rest of the streaming platforms, a lot of content has been released this week. So I went through and found some of the best options you can watch this weekend.

New to VOD

SCOOB! – May 15th

Plot: Scooby and the gang face their most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this dogpocalypse, the gang discovers that Scooby has an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

I was extremely excited for this film when I saw the trailer and now I am extremely disappointed I will not be able to see the film in theaters. Who doesn’t love them some Scooby Doo? I mean really?

You can check out the film on VOD – Rent for $19.99 or Purchase for $24.99

Capone – May 12th

Plot: The 47-year old Al Capone, after 10 years in prison, starts suffering from dementia and comes to be haunted by his violent past.

The film written and directed by Josh Trank starring Tom Hardy as Al Capone.

The film has already received a HUGE mixed bags of reviews and will be interesting how audiences across the country take to this film.

You can check it out on VOD: Rent for $9.99 or Purchase for $14.99.

New To Redbox

Fantasy Island

Plot: When the owner and operator of a luxurious island invites a collection of guests to live out their most elaborate fantasies in relative seclusion, chaos quickly descends.

Fantasy Island is worth spending the $2 on it at the Redbox just because I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the film.

The film is also available to rent on VOD for $4.99

Gretel & Hansel

Plot: A long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

This is one of those films that I felt like didn’t get enough love at the Box Office. The film is absolutely gorgeous to look at, the acting is superb and the story is easy to follow.

Available at the Redbox (Blu Ray $2 or DVD $1.80) and VOD for $4.99

Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn

Plot: After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.

As most of you know this film has a MASSIVE divide on whether or not it was good or not, but I also believe you should form your own opinion on films.

Available at the Redbox (Blu Ray $2 or DVD $1.80) and VOD for $4.99

Dead To Me – S1 & S2

Plot: A series about a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret.

Dead To Me was recommended to me by Coti Howell (Nashville Noise). She put me on the show and I was happy she did.

The acting on the show is top notch from Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, their chemistry is what brings this show to the next level.

The show starts fast and never slows down during the first season but the second season slows down a bit. But overall the show is well worth the binge.

The Wrong Missy

Plot: Tim thinks he’s invited the woman of his dreams on a work retreat to Hawaii, realizing too late he mistakenly texted someone from a nightmare blind date.

Happy Madison Production company isn’t exactly knocking it out of the ballpark with films on Netflix but the trailer for this looked funny.

Lauren Lapkus is HILARIOUS and I am hoping she carries this film into being a good one.

I have yet to see this film yet but I plan on checking it out this weekend.
