The second day of the NFL Draft saw the Second and Third Round completed. It was a slow day for quarterbacks (2) and running backs (1), but a busy day for receivers and tight ends. There were 23 fantasy relevant prospects taken, some of which were surprising. Below, I break down the Day 2 picks by position!
Quarterbacks:
- No. 65: Carson Beck, Arizona Cardinals
- No. 76: Drew Allar, Pittsburgh Steelers
About: Only two quarterbacks went on Day 2, both in the Third Round. Beck, out of Miami, went with the first pick. He lands on an Arizona team that is unsettled at quarterback. Jacoby Brissett, currently holding out, is projected as the starter. The team also added Gardner Minshew, but there is space for Beck to work himself into the lineup. That makes him an intriguing late Second or early Third Round selection in rookie drafts. Allar is in a similar situation with the Steelers, but last year’s late-round flier, Will Howard, seems to have the edge. He’s a Third-Round selection for me in rookie drafts.
Running Backs:
- No. 90: Kaelon Black, 49ers
About: There was only one running back taken on Day 2, which was a mild surprise. Even more surprising is that it was Black, who most didn’t have Top 10 at the position pre-draft. Yet, the 49ers snagged him. They have a lot of unknowns behind Christian McCaffrey, so there is some potential value. But it’s hard to view him as more than a Third-Round rookie selection.
Wide Receivers:
- No. 33: De’Zhaun Stribling, 49ers
- No. 39: Denzel Boston, Browns
- No. 47: Germie Bernard, Steelers
- No. 71: Antonio Williams, Commanders
- No. 74: Malachi Fields, Giants
- No. 75: Caleb Douglas, Dolphins
- No. 79: Zachariah Branch, Falcons
- No. 80: Ja’Kobi Lane, Ravens
- No. 83: Chris Brazzell II, Panthers
- No. 84: Ted Hurst, Buccaneers
- No. 89: Zavion Thomas, Bears
- No. 94: Chris Bell, Dolphins
About: We had 12 receivers taken on Day 2, including three in the Second Round and nine in the Third Round. We also saw a few teams doubling up on receivers. The Browns took Boston after snagging K.C. Concepcion in the First Round, while the Dolphins grabbed two receivers in the Third Round. I still like Boston better as a rookie pick than Concepcion, but they are back-to-back now for me. I think Bernard jumps up with where he went to the Steelers. I also like Williams to the Commanders and Fields to the Giants. I also like Bell the best of the Dolphins picks. Stribling kicked off Day 2 but was something of a surprise. Given how the rest of the draft has fallen, I would see Boston, Bernard, Williams, Fields, Branch, Bell, and Stribling as guys that will be considered late in the First Round and throughout the Second Round of rookie drafts, along with Concepcion. I could see Brazzell, Hurst, and Lane landing with people in the Second Round, or dropping to the early Third Round. It feels like Douglas and Thomas are later round picks to me.
Tight Ends:
- No. 54: Eli Stowers, Eagles
- No. 56: Nate Boekircher, Jaguars
- No. 59: Marlin Klein, Texans
- No. 61: Max Klare, Rams
- No. 69: Sam Rousch, Bears
- No. 73: Oscar Delp, Saints
- No. 87: Will Kacmarek, Dolphins
- No. 95: Eli Raridon, Patriots
About: We had eight tight ends taken on Day 2, with four in each round. It was a big number, but also surprising were some of the selections. Stowers was the second tight end off the board, as expected, and lands with the Eagles. He might not have a great 2026, but he has a good future path. I think he could be a consideration at the end of the First Round of a rookie draft, but likely is a Second-Round pick. Boekircher and Klein were surprise selections as TE3 and TE4 in the draft, but I don’t think there is more than a late-round pick. I like Klare to the Rams and Delp to the Saints, though both are part of deep rooms and don’t have a clear path to early production. The same goes for Rousch and Raridon. All four are late Second and Third Round rookie picks, and all are likely good Practice Squad stashes in 2026. Kacmarek goes to a team that could use production, but this felt like a blocking tight end selection. Not sure I’m drafting him in fantasy.
