The final Monday night game of the season is here. It’s a decent matchup between good offenses that could swing some fantasy title games. I’ll have a full preview of the game below, but first let’s consider what else we saw in Week 17.

The NFC South is a battle of attrition

There are only two division spots left up for grabs. One is the NFC South. The Buccaneers had a chance to catch the Panthers, and the Panthers had a chance to put the division away. Both came up small. The Buccaneers are now 1-7 over their last eight games, dropping to 7-9 on the season with a loss to the Miami Dolphins and Quinn Ewers. The Panthers, meanwhile, had almost no offense in losing at home to the Seahawks. Now, the two meet in Week 18 and it’s quite possible a sub .500 team gets in the playoffs. Whoever wins gets to host a game, but likely won’t be around for long.

The Ravens aren’t dead yet

It’s been a tough season for the Ravens. Saturday, in a must-win game with a lot out of their control, the team played the Packers without Lamar Jackson. But, thanks to a huge effort from Derrick Henry, the Ravens won. Better still, the Steelers found zero offense in Cleveland, losing 13-6 in a game that would have handed them the division. So, now, these two teams will play a winner takes all game in Week 18 on Sunday Night Football. It should be one of the better clashes of the final week.

The 49ers are on a roll

This year’s Super Bowl takes place in Santa Clara, home of the San Francisco 49ers. For the second time, it’s possible we’ll get a true home team in the Super Bowl. The 49ers outdueled the Bears Sunday night and, quietly, have put up a 12-4 season so far. With a win at home against the Seahawks in Week 18, the 49ers will be the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Quietly they’ve moved to the top of the heap and with one more win they might not ever have to leave this season.

Now, on to the Monday night game?

Los Angeles Rams (11-4) at Atlanta Falcons (6-9)

A week ago, the Rams were in the driver’s seat in the NFC. Then they lost on Thursday night to Seattle and have watched everyone play two more games. Now, we know it’s impossible for them to get the No. 1 seed. They will be on the road. But they can still play hard to get the best possible seed. So, I expect the Rams to play hard and the Falcons to try and play spoiler.

For the Rams, Matthew Stafford is a low-end QB1. The Falcons defense isn’t scaring me. I like Kyren Williams as an RB2 with upside. In the passing game, Davante Adams is doubtful and won’t likely play. I like Puka Nacua as a WR1 and I like Colby Parkinson as a TE2 with upside.

For the Falcons, Kirk Cousins is a mid-tier QB2 option. In the backfield, I like Bijan Robinson a lot. He’s an RB1 for me. In the passing game, Kyle Pitts is hot and should be a TE1. Drake London appears on track to play again, but it could still be slow going. He’s a WR2 with upside for me.

I’m taking the Rams.
