Week 15 of the NFL Season comes to an end tonight in Pittsburgh. The Miami Dolphins are just 6-7, but still technically alive. The Pittsburgh Steelers are 7-6, just ahead of the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams need a win. I preview the game below, but first some takeaways from the rest of Week 15.

The Buccaneers are in trouble

Tampa Bay once looked to have a commanding lead in the NFC South. They also once looked like a top contender in the NFL. But a loss on Thursday night dropped them to 7-7. Now, they have two of the final three games against the Carolina Panthers, who lost to the Saints to drop to 7-7 as well. The Buccaneers went from cruise control to desperation in a few short weeks. Now, their playoff hopes hang by a thread.

Old Man Rivers plays tough

The Colts not only signed 44-year-old Philip Rivers, who retired in 2020. They gave him a start. And he hung tough. Yes, his team lost. Now the Colts (8-6) are on the outside looking in when it comes to the AFC Playoffs. But he played well and kept them in the game despite minimal practice against a good Seahawk team. It was impressive.

The Chiefs’ dynasty is over

The Chiefs lost, again, on Sunday, falling to 6-8 on the season. Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL and is done for the year. And the Chiefs were officially eliminated from the playoffs. While they’ve struggled all season, I still somehow thought they’d make it in the end. It was a good run, but the Chiefs are done for 2025.

And now, on to Monday night’s game.

Miami Dolphins (6-7) at Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6)

As mentioned above, both teams need the win. It feels almost improbable the Dolphins got here and is even more improbable they could actually make it. The Steelers, meanwhile, are in the driver’s seat to win the division, they just have to follow through.

For the Dolphins, the passing game has taken a back seat. Tua Tagovailoa is a low-end QB2, while I have Jaylen Waddle as an WR2. I’m not trusting any other pass catcher. In the backfield, De’Von Achane is cleared to play. He’s an RB1 for me.

For the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers has had a solid if unspectacular season. He’s a QB2 for me. In the backfield, I like both Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell are RB2s for me. In the passing game, it’s been a tossup. D.K. Metcalf stepped up last week. He should be a WR2.

I’m taking the Steelers.
