Week 4 of the NFL Season wraps up tonight with our second double-header of the season. We have four teams all hungry for a win playing under the lights on Monday night. I’ll have a full preview of both games below, but first let’s look at three other takeaways from this week in the NFL.
The NFC West is hot
Through four weeks of the season, the NFC West is the only division where every team is at .500 or better. The Rams, 49ers, and Seahawks are all 3-1 on the season. The Arizona Cardinals are bringing up the rear at 2-2, with both losses coming in the division. In short, this is shaping up to be one of the tightest races of the NFL Season.
The Bills and Eagles are on fire
Through four weeks, there are just two undefeated teams in the league. The Eagles, who won a battle of undefeated teams Sunday, are the lone perfect team in the NFC. The Bills, who beat the Saints soundly, are the lone unbeaten team in the AFC. Both teams were among the top contenders heading into the season and it looks like both are on track to be among the contenders for the Super Bowl when the playoffs begin in January.
The Titans and Saints are competing for the top pick
The Titans had the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. By the look of things, they are trying to get it in back-to-back seasons. The Titans slumped to 0-4 and looked dreadful in a 26-0 loss to the Texans. The team’s coach, Brian Callahan, also looks to be on the hot seat as September comes to a close. The Saints, meanwhile, have fought hard but also slumped to 0-4 on the season. Many figured that the Saints would be among the worst teams in the league and so far, they’ve done little to change that impression.
And now, on to Monday Night Football.
New York Jets (0-3) at Miami Dolphins (0-3)
This is a battle of winless teams. The loser will join the Saints and Titans in the early battle for the top pick. But the winner won’t have an easy path toward redemption, either. This could be an ugly game as both teams have struggled mightily at times this season. But someone has to win, right?
For the Jets, Justin Fields should be back. He’s a QB2 with some upside thanks to his rushing ability. In the backfield, Breece Hall is likely the top option, but it’s been a mixed bag. He’s an RB3 for me. I do like Garrett Wilson, who has looked strong. He’s a WR2 for me this week.
For the Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa has struggled, but so has the Jets’ defense. He’s a low-end QB2 for me. De’Von Achane has outstanding, and he’s an RB1 for me. In the passing game, it’s about Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Both are capable of big things, but I have Hill as a WR2 and Waddle as a WR3.
I have the Dolphins getting the win here.
Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) at Denver Broncos (1-2)
The other Monday night matchup is a re-match of a great game from last December. But Joe Burrow isn’t there. The Broncos have playoff aspirations, while the Bengals are still trying to correct things on offense and defense. So, what does that mean for Monday night? It’s anyone’s guess as the Broncos have lost two winnable games at the buzzer the past two weeks.
For the Bengals, the offensive line is a problem. That has me feeling Jake Browning is a QB3, while Chase Brown is a low-end flex play. Neither is likely to have a lot of time or room. In the passing game, you can’t smother Ja’Marr Chase totally. He’s a WR2 for me. Tee Higgins hasn’t gotten the volume so far. This could be another long night. He’s a low-end flex option.
For the Broncos, it’s a chance to step up at home. It’s now or never for Denver, and for Bo Nix. I’m all in on him in Week 4. He is a start for me! In the backfield, J.K. Dobbins is the lead back and is an RB2 for me. In the passing game, it’s all about Courtland Sutton. He’s a WR2 with upside for me. It could be a good night. Marvin Mims had a big game in December, but I like Troy Franklin as a sneaky play this week. He’s a WR3 for me. Evan Engram is healthy, but will it matter? He’s a TE2.
I’m taking the Broncos tonight.
