Week 7 of the NFL Season is here, and it kicks off with a homecoming. It’s not a divisional game, but we get Sean Payton’s return to New Orleans. It’s also a matchup that will feature two rookie quarterbacks and two teams hungry to pick up another win.
The Broncos are 3-3. The team started off 0-2 but rallied to 3-2 with three straight wins. Then the Broncos ran into a buzz saw in the form of the Chargers in Week 6. The Chargers rolled off a 20-0 halftime lead and top cornerback Patrick Surtain II was knocked out with a concussion. Surtain is likely out again on Thursday night.
The Saints, meanwhile, turned to Spencer Rattler in Week 6 after Derek Carr was lost with an oblique injury. Carr is out again Thursday, meaning Rattler will get his second start in 10 days. He’ll also likely be short-handed, as Chris Olave got a concussion in Week 6 and Rashid Shaheed has a knee injury. Neither will suit up Thursday. In addition, Taysom Hill is doubtful. All that means the Saints will be short-handed.
For the Broncos, Bo Nix is a low-end QB2 option. In the backfield, I like Javonte Williams the best, but he’s more of an RB3/Flex option. In the passing game, Courtland Sutton is a flex option. If you’re feeling desperate, rookie Devaughn Vele is a deep league flex consideration.
For the Saints, Rattler feels like more of a QB3. The Broncos’ defense—even without Surtain—is formidable. I like Alvin Kamara as a low-end RB1 option thanks to his passing game work, especially with receivers being in short supply. Among pass catchers, rookie Bub Means is the one I’m most bullish on. Even then, he’s more of a deep league flex option.
