We’re off-and-running on the 2024 NFL Season. Week 1, as always, provided thrills, chills, and surprises. Doubtless we’ll see that with the Week 2 schedule and beyond. That begins tonight, as we get a big matchup between AFC East rivals.
The Bills started the season at home with the Arizona Cardinals, but it wasn’t an easy game. Down big in the first half, the team battled back with Josh Allen tossing two touchdowns and rushing for two more. He injured his non-throwing hand, but he’s been cleared and is off the injury report for Thursday night.
The Dolphins opened at home, too, hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Dolphins also ended up down early but used a turnover and some big passing plays to climb back and get the win. They didn’t escape unscathed, as both Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane suffered injuries. While Mostert has been ruled out, Achane is a game-time decision Thursday.
For fantasy, starting with the Bills, I’m playing Allen. He’s a Top 12 QB option for me. I’m also playing running back James Cook, who is a borderline RB1. In the passing game, Allen completed passes to 10 different receivers in Week 1. That’s good for the Bills, but tough for fantasy. If pressed, I’m still starting Dalton Kincaid—hoping for a better showing in Week 2—and leaning toward Khalil Shakir as the best flex option among receivers.
For the Dolphins, I’m starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. I think he’s also a Top 12 option at the position. I’m also starting receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, both of which are Top 24 options. In the backfield, if Achane starts I’m probably playing him because of the upside. But I’m a little lower this week. If he misses, Jeff Wilson is an interesting starting option.
And now, on to the Week 2 picks.
