The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books, so it’s time to take stock of the players as we head into rookie drafts. Over the next few pieces, I’ll be going position-by-position through my rookie rankings. Today, it’s wide receivers.
Class of 2024 Wide Receivers:
Tier 1:
Marvin Harrison, Jr., Cardinals
Malik Nabers, Giants
Rome Odunze, Bears
About: These three were alone in a tier pre-draft, and they still are for me. They should be going at the top of the First Round. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if these were the top three picks in non-Superflex drafts. Harrison might even go No. 1 overall in some Superflex drafts. Don’t let any of the landing spots push you off these three.
Tier 2:
Xavier Worthy, Chiefs
Brian Thomas, Jr., Jaguars
Ladd McConkey, Chargers
Keon Coleman, Bills
Troy Franklin, Broncos
Ricky Pearsall, 49ers
About: Here’s the next group of receivers. I could make a case for any of them going in the First Round or early Second Round of fantasy drafts. Worthy will likely be over-drafted owing to landing on the Chiefs, but he’s easily the No. 4 receiver right now. Thomas, McConkey, Coleman, and Franklin landed in good spots to see early roles. Pearsall might not have the highest rookie production, but I like the long-term potential owing to the lack of long-term security for the 49ers Top three receivers.
Tier 3:
Malachi Corley, Jets
Jalen McMillian, Buccaneers
Xavier Legette, Panthers
Ja’Lynn Polk, Patriots
Jermaine Burton, Bengals
Adonai Mitchell, Colts
Roman Wilson, Steelers
About: This is an interesting group of receivers. Some are here thanks to draft capital, others because I liked their talent pre-draft. All of them have potential to contribute, but none is likely to be the top receiver on their squad—save for maybe Polk, which has more to do with the state of the Patriots. Most of them profile as WR2 or WR3 on their own team. I can see these guys going in the Second Round, probably no later than the early Third Round if you want to roster them. Where they go will likely depend on personal preference.
Tier 4:
Luke McCaffrey, Commanders
Tez Walker, Ravens
Brendan Rice, Chargers
Javon Baker, Patriots
About: Here’s my next group of guys. These are probably low-end selections in the late Third Round or into the Fourth Round. All of them have some potential based on the landing spot, but none are locks for production, especially in year one.
The Rest:
Malik Washington, Dolphins
Jacob Cowing, 49ers
Anias Smith, Eagles
Jamari Thrash, Browns
Anthony Gould, Colts
Bub Means, Saints
Ryan Flournoy, Cowboys
Tahj Washington, Dolphins
Casey Washington, Falcons
Cornelius Johnson, Chargers
Jordan Whittington, Rams
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Commanders
Devaughn Vele, Broncos
Tejhaun Palmer, Cardinals
Jha’Quan Jackson, Titans
Isaiah Williams, Lions
Xavier Weaver, Cardinals
Terique Owens, 49ers
Jaxon Janke, Titans
Jaden Janke, Titans
About: The rest of these guys went late in the draft or signed as undrafted free agents. One or wo might be taken in a four-or-five-round rookie draft, but I wouldn’t be shocked if most go undrafted. Depending on your preference, some could be worth a stash on a taxi squad. I’m curious about Malik and Tahj Washington just because the Dolphins’ depth is thin.
