The new iteration of Mean Girls, written by and starring Tina Fey, opens wide this weekend. Fey is a great performer, so in honor of the new version of Mean Girls, this week I’m taking a look at five other films that feature Fey. Let’s dive in. Films appear in chronological order.

Baby Mama (2008)
About
: This continued the partnership between Fey and Amy Poehler. In this one, Fey is seeking to become a mother and uses Poehler’s character as her surrogate. Predictably, things go off the rails with these two, but this is a fun movie.

Date Night (2010)
About
: This sees Fey and Steve Carell as an average couple who decide to spice things up on a date in the city. Instead, they get pulled into a dangerous game thanks to some mistaken identity. Fey and Carell are great here, as is Mark Wahlberg in a cameo role. This might be my favorite of Fey’s films.

Sisters (2015)
About:
If Date Night isn’t my favorite, it would have to be Sisters, which again pairs Fey and Poehler. This time they are adult siblings who throw a rager in their childhood home after finding out their parents intend to sell. It’s truly hilarious.

Soul (2020)
About:
This Pixar film came out around Christmas during the pandemic. Ironically, it’s getting a theatrical release for the first time starting Friday. Fey is a crucial voice here, alongside Jamie Foxx. I love her work and I loved this film.

A Haunting in Venice (2023)
About:
Here, Fey plays against brand in a murder mystery from Agatha Christie. She still has a lot of wit and actually is one of my favorite parts of this film. It’s a fun watch.
