We’ve seen some interesting battles on Thursday Night Football this year and some great matchups. Hard to feel like we’re getting a definitive repeat this week as the winless Chicago Bears travel to battle the Washington Commanders.
This is also the first week with bye weeks as the Seahawks, Buccaneers, Chargers and Browns take the week off. So, each of the 14 games this week counts, especially for fantasy players. But what can we expect from these two teams? Let’s dive in.
For the Bears, we saw Justin Fields play his best game of the season in Week 4. The Bears lost, but Fields threw four touchdowns. He’s back in QB1 range, sitting as QB12 through four weeks. I’m still putting him in lineups as I think it’s a decent matchup with a Commanders’ secondary that hasn’t been stellar.
I was also impressed with Khalil Herbert in Week 4 as he ran with passion and record a 100-yard day. He’s in flex range for me. In the passing game, we know Chase Claypool won’t be involved but I’m bullish on D.J. Moore. He has talent and he’s developing a connection with Fields. He’s WR9 the past three weeks after a tough start in Week 1. Cole Kmet, meanwhile, is TE3 on the season thanks to a huge Week 4. He’s a low-end TE1 option for me.
For the Commanders, Sam Howell has been impressive outside of a Week 3 stumble against the Bills. The Bears’ defense doesn’t scare anyone, so he’s a QB2 for me. In the backfield, Brian Robinson, Jr., is the running back that you want and is actually RB8 on the season. I like him better as an RB2, but he is worth a start.
Among the receivers, Terry McLaurin continues to be the top option, sitting as WR36. He’s a WR2/3. But not far behind is Curtis Samuel, the forgotten man, who is sitting as WR45. With his role in the run game, I actually like him as a better flex option than Jahan Dotson at this point.
