The School for Good and Evil is based on the books and follows two best friends, Sophie, played by Sophia Anne Caruso, and Agatha, played by Sofia Wylie. Sophia and Agatha both get put in two magical schools that are next to each other. One school is for good kids and one for evil kids. Agatha and Sophie both think they are in the wrong schools and have to find a way to get home.
This film I thought was amazing. It’s not often you get fantasy magic teen films like this. The story was very fun, and we got introduced to a new universe. I hope they continue these films. The action in this is very good. Sofia and Sophia both had great chemistry together, and you could tell they get on in real life. All the cast are great. Throughout this movie, there is lots to take in, You feel part of this magical world, and I thought the story was really fun. Some people may find this film slow, but I believe this is just the start of these films. The movie takes time to introduce you to this world and characters. I was very pleased this was a film instead of a TV show. I do think this film would have been wonderful at the cinemas!
Although this film was very good, I did think One of the plotlines was extremely predictable. In the story, they must find a true love’s kiss. I felt like most people can work out straight away who it is. I did also think some scenes where they were flying looked a bit low-budget, but the rest of the film looks amazing. The comedy was very hit-and-miss as some jokes I thought were good, but other jokes felt like it was aimed at really young kids. Another thing to note is this film is rated 12 but at times I did think it was a little gory for a 12 film.
If you are looking for a fun new film with a great adventure, that is magical and a little spooky for some younger viewers, but great for families or Halloween. Then I would recommend this. I’m now waiting for the Sequel!
