Gamers are finally getting a well-built look at Guerrilla Games‘ latest installment Horizon Zero Dawn 2 Forbidden West. The title was announced in February of last year and the studio has fallen silent ever since. This event covered 14 minutes of brand new gameplay which has left me impressed. The game is slated to drop later this year, but we still don’t have a release date which makes sense considering that Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is a couple of weeks away from release. I guess that Horizon Zero Dawn 2 Forbidden West will drop later in summer possibly around the later half of August.
Sony continues to invest heavily in their first-party line and today’s showcase has left me craving more. I commend the team at Guerrilla Games for not wasting any time and jumping straight into the meat and potatoes with the 14 minutes of gameplay they promised. Aloy seems to have a few new tricks up her sleeve but what stuck out to me gameplay was the utilization of Aloy’s spear alongside her other new gadgets. This world looks stunning. The environment feels like a character that you can interact with and experiment with Aloy’s new tools. The gameplay seems to have taken its to next level. They did not confirm if the title will run at 60 fps but I expect that they give players the option to choose between frame rate and resolution. And for those wondering this title will release on PS4 and PS5 respectively.
Final Thoughts: This is a day one purchase for me. The combat looks fantastic and I do not doubt that the story will be a journey that gamers never forget. The event was clear, concise, and gave everyone what they came for..besides the release date but we should hear more within the near future.
My Score: A
