Welcome back everyone to V4 of the Untitled Mailbag.
Don’t forget to get your questions in for the next mail bag by emailing me here: email@example.com or send your questions on Twitter here.
It’s been a crazy week for me, which isn’t much of a difference from any other week as I get in over my head a lot, as I told you in last week’s mailbag.
I posed my questions like I do every week on social media, which this week had the most submissions yet. Thank you so much for this, as it makes this whole thing worth it. I was trying to think of the story to tell this week, I was going to talk about wrestling and how I got into that, but I think I’ll wait. I could talk about why movies or why football, but after much going back and forth, my wife decided to ask a question this week, and it was: “If you had one wish, what would it be?”.
How do I even remotely begin to answer that question? I love to write, and I love to do it a lot. Whether its movie reviews or sports-related, writing has always been a passion for me. Would I like to write for a living? I think so, but honestly, for right now if I had one wish, I would love to shoot and film my short. To me, this is a personal journey of which that I started on that I believe the message should be spread to a mass audience, and I hope one day it will.
Now onto your questions
Questions from Kevin (@DaBoys_22 on Twitter) – Best Football Movie? And why is it Remember the Titans?
Football movies are my jam. The selections are endless, from We are Marshall to Invincible to Fried Night Lights to Any Given Sunday to Varsity Blues and even the film you mentioned, Remember the Titans.
If I was going to talk about the drama film, Remember the Titans would be my pick, but my favorite film, The Replacements, Keanu Reeves is just amazing in this movie, and it’s funny, it’s heartwarming, a little love story, what’s not to love.
Question from Jacob (@AintDunneYet on Twitter) – What are your Top 5 Comedies?
Top 5 Comedies? Oh My God, this is a hard one.
The Hangover, 22 Jump Street, Superbad, This is the End, and Borat.
I already regret the films I forgot.
Question from Chris (@DetroitBeastie on Twitter) – Are you a horror movie fan? If so what is your favorite franchise?
Horror Fan? Not the biggest Horror fan, no. I watch everything, which includes horror films, but when a horror movie is good, it is GOOD.
Franchise? I have a soft spot for Scream and Michael Myers films. The Original Scream is one of the best horror films of all time, and I really enjoyed the most recent Halloween movie.
Question from Joseph Harms (@Officially_joseph.harms on IG) – Most Underrated Director? Most Overrated Director?
Overrated? Clint Eastwood. He has some good films but his bad ones out-way them over and over again.
Ben Affleck is the only right answer to the Underrated part. From Gone Baby Gone to The Town to Argo, people continue to slander his name regardless, and I’m here to tell you that you should stop. His direction in the three films above are some of the best work we’ve seen from an actor turned director, and I can’t wait for his next project.
Question from Fantasy Impact (@FIToday_ on Twitter) – Are you a big fan of Candy Corn?
Yes, I love Candy Corn but to be honest, I am more of a fan of the Pumpkin Candy Corn.
Question from Triple Play Fantasy (@TripPlayFantasy on Twitter) – Best Halloween Candy?
Reese Pumpkin Eggs are legit the greatest thing ever invented, and don’t anyone EVER compare them to regular Reese’s cups, because they aren’t the same.
I also have a love for mini-Hershey bars, and mini-Butterfingers, and Starburst.
Question from The OC Podcast co-host, Kenzie (@Kenzvanunu on Twitter) – What is your most anticipated remaining 2020 release?
Sofia Coppola’s On The Rocks, Sofia is one of my favorite filmmakers, and she has this artistic way of reeling you into her films, and this one, she is reuniting with Bill Murray, and it also has Rashida Jones in it. I can’t wait for this film to come out already.
A few other films I am looking forward to, Dune is at the top of that list, as Villanueva is one of the best at what he does. Erick Weber ranted and raved about Saint Maud, which I am wanting to see, and David Fincher’s, Mank.
