Over/Under: Detroit Lions & Chicago Bears

With the NFL season right around the corner (crossing fingers, toes, and nose), I am going to kick off a series where I breakdown each division in the NFL. Recap the key additions, subtractions from the offseason and tell you what you should bet on the Over/Under for each team.

Today I am going to continue my series within the NFC North and tackle the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears.

Key Additions: Jamie Collins, Duron Harmon, Desmond Trufant, D’Andre Swift, Jeff Okudah

Key Subtractions: Damon Harrison, Darius Slay, Rick Wagner, Rashaan Melvin, Jermaine Kearse

Last years record: 3-12-1
Strength of Schedule: .525
Vegas Over/Under Win Total: 6.5

The Lions had a steadfast offseason, nothing that made you say WOW or change the perspective of what this team was going to do heading into 2020.

Patricia snagged the Darrius Slay replacement with the 3rd overall pick of the draft in Jeff Okudah, who is a physical corner who can thrive in man to man coverage and pressing opposing receivers.

If the Lions plan on competing this season, they are going to need a full 16 out of Matthew Stafford. He is coming back from a back injury that sidelined him for the second half of the 2019 season. They have the weapons in place in order to do so, execution will be the key.

The Verdict:

Lions Over/Under 6.5: UNDER, POUND THAT UNDER!!!!!
2020 Record: 3-13

With the fifth hardest schedule and one of the worst coordinators turned head coaches, I expect the Lions to struggle and clean house this offseason.

Key Additions: Nick Foles, Ted Ginn Jr., Jimmy Graham, Artie Burns, Robert Quinn

Key Subtractions: Leonard Floyd, Trey Burton, Kyle Long, Nick Williams, Taylor Gabriel, Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix

Last years record: 8-8
Strength of Schedule:
.509 (T-13)
Vegas Over/Under Win Total:
8.5

This Bears team reminds me of the Jaguars of 2017, they go out and make a huge splash and get Mack, set their defense up and a lackluster quarterback holds them back to push them over the top. Tribusky has not been good and they left him at the helm last year after a mediocre season.

They bring in Super Bowl-winning Quarterback Nick Foles to ‘challenge’ Mitchell for the job. It’s a little too late as we saw Foles wasn’t grand in his 4 games with Jaguars last year.

Their offseason additions don’t move the needle and the outlook on the season is rather murky.

The Verdict:

Bears Over/Under 8.5: POUND THE UNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2020 Record: 3-13

This team has no hope, clean house this offseason and hope the next guy fixes the mistakes of the past.
