On September 4th, for $29.99 you can rent Disney’s newest Live-Action remake, Mulan on Disney+, but only if you have a Disney+ subscription.
CEO Bob Chapek said, “We see this as an opportunity to bring this incredible film to a broad audience, currently unable to go to movie theaters, while also further enhancing the value and attractiveness of a Disney+ subscription with this great content.” (via CNBC)
The movie was scheduled to release August 21 and still will release in theaters that are able to be open, in areas that do not have a Disney+ launch planned.
Eyes are now on Disney to see if they will do this with any of their other releases, most notably, Black Widow.
Mulan stars Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen, and Li Gong. Is written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Elizabeth Martin, and Lauren Hynek. And, is directed Niki Caro.
