Finding Her Edge follows teenage sisters from a family of professional ice skaters. Adriana (Madelyn Keys) stops skating after her mum dies, but when her older sister Elise (Alexandra Beaton) gets injured while training for an ice-skating competition, Adriana has to take her place in the competition. While this is happening, many other skaters who are entering the competition come to live at their house to train, which leads to jealousy, romance, drama, and much more.

Finding Her Edge was a great TV programme that highlights ice skating. The show keeps you interested in the characters’ relationships and dynamics. Throughout the show, you find yourself liking and not liking certain characters depending on what part of the story you are on, as some get meaner and some get nicer, which I thought was very clever. The story has countless ups and downs, and at times the show is quite emotional and deep.  Finding Her Edge explores grief and loss not only through its teen characters but also through the adults, which is a nice touch. Showing both generations coping with loss adds depth and makes the emotional impact of the story even stronger. The ice-skating scenes are very beautiful to watch and are filmed in creative ways. I loved seeing some tricks used, such as double spins and more, while watching the skating scenes.

The cast is all great, but Madelyn Keys gives a fantastic performance that can be emotional at times, and I loved what she brought to her character. Sometimes when her character was angry or upset, she would do a small smile or smirk, which I thought was a clever touch, and I also liked how sometimes she would roll her eyes. The romance scenes are also good, and there are lots of drama, heartbreak, and love triangles throughout. Another thing I thought while watching is that out of all the teens, Riley seemed to be the most mature and cared about everyone. She would give good advice, and I really liked how kind and caring her character was to everyone. Despite the show being aimed at families, I’d say it’s more aimed at teens and young adults due to the many romance and party scenes throughout.

Finding Her Edge was good and entertaining, but it did have a few minor issues. I found myself getting a little confused about how some people knew each other or who was related to whom, mainly in the first few episodes, especially since many of the teens were living together to train. I also felt that some script dialogue sounded a bit forced at times. Even though the plot, story, and characters were good, the way the characters sometimes talked didn’t always feel natural. This was mainly the case in the first few episodes.

Overall, Finding Her Edge was a great show that balances emotional storytelling with exciting ice skating drama. Even though there were a few small issues, they didn’t take away too much from the story. The strong performances, engaging relationships, and beautiful skating scenes make it an enjoyable series that is fun and interesting to watch. I recommend it for people looking for a unique, different type of sports show.
